Importance of Client Id

Seniors,

could you please enlighten the importance of Client ID (UCI). Is it possible to have two Client Id? If yes is that an issue and needs to be resolved with CIC ASAP.

Please advise?

Client ID is a unique 8-digit number which CIC uses to identify you and store information about your immigration history. I don't believe it is possible for one persom to have two client IDs.

Technically no its not possible to have two different Client Id for same Person. But what if you had your 1st WP when your name is

First name: XXXX YYYY
Last name <blank>

After that you changed / corrected your name to and then apply a new WP

First Name: XXXXX
Last Name : YYYYY

The new WP is issued with new name and can have a new Client ID.

Actually this is what exactly happened to me. Could you provide some more insight to it ?

Hmm... I have no idea. But I imagine somewhere in CIC's system, they have a record that those 2 numbers belong to the same person(you). Similar to what happens when you become a PR and get a new SIN(the old SIN and new SIN are linked together forever).

I am not bothering much .....when it comes ..I plan to deal with that as I have all documentations including old and new WP.
