Still waiting for Medical Request for CEC application. My first Bridging Work Permit is expiring on Feb 22, 2016. If I applied for a 2nd bridging work permit before Feb 22, am I eligible for a 2nd bridging work permit?

Also, if I already had a 3 year PGWP and 1 year Bridging work permit, while I wait for a 2nd bridging work permit, will I be considered under implied status since my total work permit length has reached 4 years?

Under Implied Status, I understand I can continue to work, but am I allowed to change employer?

Can I go to the boarder and get a new work permit? I just got a few really good work offers, I don't want to turn them down because of work permit issue.

I am in the same situation. Waiting for my second.

Yes, you can keep working under the same conditions as your last visa. If it was an open work permit, you can do whatever you like. The problem is that many employers do not want to hire you in long-term, because you might have to leave the country, and they don't want to risk it.

No, you cannot get a BOWP at the border. Use the online application form. Stay away from the border while you are on implied status!! You are not allowed to re-enter Canada once you are out on implied status, because you have no valid visa.

Can I go to the boarder and flagpole before my current work permit expires?

To get a 2nd Bridging WP right away. If I was refused, I should still be able to enter Canada with my current work permit, and wait for my online work permit application to be processed. Does it make sense? Or is it too risky?

Didn't you read my first answer? You cannot get a BOWP at the border.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know they do not issue BOWP at the boarder. I guess the safest thing to do is to wait for my online BOWP application and stay with the same employer for the next 6 months.

Btw, do you know if it is a problem if my total work permit length has reached the 4 years limit? would that cause a problem for a 2nd BOWP?

4 years limit doesn't apply if you're a PR applicant

Hey Folks,

Dont worry you will definately get your 2 nd bowp. I just received mine on friday for another year and today i received med as well.

I am on my 5th year as worker status so 4 years max rule does nt apply for us.

]

Not a problem. There are several exemptions to the 4 year rule, including BOWPs and work experience at NOC Levels O and A.
