Hi all .....
I am newbie in this forum....
I am a computer science Grad from USA (basically from India) Getting my degree in DEC 2008. Here i have many questions regarding immigration (PR), hope somebody can help....

1). I worked as a graduate research asst/Teaching Asst for 4 years, which is 20 hr/week in my university. will this count as work experience?

2). Do they have any sepcial processing for graduates from usa (federal quota i heard)

3). I am working right now full-time on OPT in usa Guess that counts towards my work experience.

4). Where do I need to get police clearance (INDIA OR USA???)

5). How long actual process takes place?

6) .Do i need toefl/ielts??

7). Applying to which state is gud/helpful (Quebec??) I am just curious....

Thanks in advance.....

1) this can count towards your points but TA is not on the 38 occupation list. For the points, two 20hour week is counted as equivalent to one week full time (approximately).

2) No, everyone is treated equally. If you have a H1b visa and fulfil some other requirements then you can migrate to Alberta easier.

3) Yes

4) Both Indian and US. Any place where you have live for longer than 6months since your 18th birthday.

5) We think it will take between 6 to 12 months and CIC is aiming for that. Since the process only started now, its anybody's guess.

6) IELTS (general not academic)

7) Vancouver in BC is supposed to be one of the best places to live in the world. But where you want to live is based on what is important to you. If career is important to you, depending on your job, Alberta is booming. If you cannot live in the cold, then Saskatchwan and Alberta might be too cold for you. If you like to live in a big city, then Toronto is probably best for you. If you like to live somewhere different, where you are forced to learn a new language, then Quebec might be perfect. It really depends on what is important to you.
