IMM5710E - What option to select for question 2 in case of open work permit extension in Canada

Thank you so much for replying. However, I have a follow-up as this is causing me huge stress as my University councilors advised me to go with option 1.
My co-op work permit was also an open permit. So technically, am I not applying for a work permit for a second time?
FYI I just discovered that my work permit that was issued for co-op mentions "Employer: University" and not the actual company that I worked for and the one that I'll be working for after graduation.

Sorry, I didn't mean to rush.
It's just that I am stressed out as the window to apply for the PGWP is really narrow for me.
Also, your response has been really helpful but if you don't mind could you please elaborate a bit on why applying for a second work permit(i.e PGWP after my co-op work permit) should be considered under applying for the first time?

I'm applying for the employer-specific work permit with LMIA Exemption. I live in Quebec have valid PGWP & CSQ applied for P.R and its been more than a year working with same employer. My PGWP is expiring in 5-6 months. When i am filing this IMM5710 i'm not sure of what option to choose for this question. @canuck_in_uk

I am applying for extension of my open work permit. I had already applied for my Spousal PR around 2 years ago, it is still in progress and my OWP expires in November'20 hence need to apply for my extension.
I am working full time with an institution for past 1.5 years now
Like everyone else, even I am unsure which option should I select
1. Apply for a work permit for same employer
2. Restore my status as a worker
3. Apply for WP for the first time or with a new employer
4. Get a new temporary resident permit ( for inadmissible applicants only)
Guidance will be appreciated.

how can he select option 2? as he's already having an open work permit.. he wants to extend his permit..
