Hello,

My husband works with IBM in Ottawa and will complete his one year this October. We will apply for PR post that.
I have accompanied him with open work permit and also working in Ottawa. As it is not mandatory to have LMIA in open WP, will I get points for having a Canadian job offer?

Cheers,
Shilpi

Hi,

My husband got an internal transfer from IBM India and is currently with IBM in Ottawa, Canada.
Once he completes his one year, we are planning to apply for PR (through CEC).
As this was an intra company move it was LMIA exempt.

Just wanted to know if anyone have had similar situation and what is the best to apply for PR?

Cheers,
Shilpi

well as others have said good luck getting any form of letter from IBM HR confirming job role and experience. IBM HR worldwide provide little support to emigration.

this was likely an ICT , a temporary work permit as IBM would very rarely if ever transfer anyone or sponsor anyone for PR its just not generally the way they do things. Usually in international corporations an ICT would be set up from home country negotiating with the host country where a specialist skill is required not readily available in the host country.

Usually they expect people to get PR on their own, resign from home country and then if a vacancy exists take them on, although with so much downsizing in IBM vacancies are harder to come by. Obviously there will always be exceptions such as VPs from another country but even those would probably be on ICT or scientists that have future patents in process that money can be made from etc..

Hi Shilpi,
I am a similar case. From IBM India and working here on closed work permit within IBM.
Wanted to know if you applied and got the extra points for a job offer.
As already discussed here, we can't expect HRs to provide any official offer letter, however I do have a work permit extension email which has almost all the details needed (hours/week, salary, deductions and job details etc)

Your inputs will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Amit

Hello Guys.

I have just started the process and I was looking for process to get reference letters. I have also worked in IBM for 3 years and now I am working in Tieto.
Is still the process same and we do not need to provide the reference letter from the companies?

I am too looking for reference letter from IBM India but if they don't give any job description letter, then can anyone confirm that there will be no problem with PR application. Only payslip, relieving letter and offer letter will work?

Hi ,

I am an ex-IBMer employee and had recently taken an experience letter with Job details from IBM India. They do have fixed format but they take your last manager's approval over mail to check if the duties you want to include in your letter matches actually or not. If manager confirm then they will add it to their current format as an exception and send it to you.

For me , I had no issue in getting letter from HR ( I mailed separation HR).

I didn't submit anything like reference letter..but yes I submitted offer letter & salary slips & Got the PR.

You need to be honest...CIC officer knows, big company doesn't provide reference letter for PR.
which company were you in?
so you did not submit any letter showing your duties? or did you write duties in letter of explanation?
i am wondering in this case how did cic would not confirmed that you belong to the NOC you selected?
please suggest

your travel document will have all the details, if not ask your Manager (preferred), Team lead (preferred) or colleague to send an email to you from his official IBM id. convert it to .pdf and have him sign the document with date. Scan the copy and send it to CIC with explanation letter.
which travel document are you talking about?
Please confirm...
Also if we are getting email then why do we need to take printout and get it signed...?
why not directly printing on paper and get it signed?

Hi,

I am a permanent employee of IBM India and worked for them in India from 2011 - 2016. I came to Canada as a part of Intra-company transfer in a closed WP under HCCM on 2017 January - till date. My contract in Canada has got extended till Dec,2019.

I am planning to apply for PR and have a few questions. Please help me by responding with best of your knowledge.

Question 1:
a. Do I need separate reference letter (one from IBM India and another from IBM Canada) ? Or should I contact IBM India HR and they will give me for both?
b. Has anyone from IBM has already obtained those. Please respond with the procedure.

Question 2:
a. Can I show my current job as valid job offer and claim the 50 points (I am in closed WP and will not get any letter stating the permanent position for 1 year after getting PR as per CIC requirement).
b. Do I still need to show Proof of fund if I have this job till 2019?

If anyone out there from IBM went through the same situation, please respond.
Thanks in advance for your kind help.

No need to get any specific letter from IBM. Just submit your offer letter , pay stub and T4 . You will be good. Use NOC from your WP.
Hi Dev,
Thanks for letting us know that we do not need to bother about the experience letter for our job experience duration in Canada. I just have one question....
What about showing the experience with IBM India. Don't I require the experience letter to show my experience while working in India with IBM?
How to get that experience letter?
