I need some help please. Trying to Immigrate to Alberta.

I want to leave Peru and live in Canada, I've always wanted it. I am 25 years old so am trying to find a cheap way to immigrate. I've found a community college in PEI (Holland College) and chosen a 1 year electrician program before starting my 1st year apprenticeship. The thing is, I plan to leave PEI after I get graduated and apply for a Post-Graduate Work Permit (1 year) and move to Alberta (Edmonton or Calgary), once there I plan to find a job as electrician and start the apprenticeship program. Will I be able to? Am I going to need to change my visa status to student visa or work permit?

I understand that before I begin my apprenticeship as an electrician I have to find an employer, choose a new institution for the technical training and then register (online) in Alberta's Apprenticeship and Industrial Training. So will a Post-Graduate Work Permit allow me to do that? What's the best way?

If your objective is to get PR, take a 2 year program so that you qualify for a 3 year PGWP. Low chance of PR with just a 1 year program / 1 year PGWP.

In some provinces you must be a Canadian PR or citizen to join an apprencticeship. You should research the rules for Alberta before making any plans to come here.

Based on what I know, you can only join an apprenticeship program if you are already a Canadian citizen or Canadian PR.

It is really hard to get an apprenticeship for even Canadian student. I also don't understand the fixation on Alberta. Would think you would probably have better chances in smaller communities. This plan gas a lot of potential problems.

This is correct. Because apprenticeships are a combination of practical experience, supplemented by training, the opportunities are limited to citizens and PRs. You would be wiser to spend some time working in the field in your home country and enter through one of the immigration streams (skilled worker) and challenge the exams.
On another note, you will probably find the economic climate in Alberta less than friendly for new apprentices.

I'm having a headache right now hehe. So basically as an international student I cannot join an apprenticeship program? I really wanted to start an electrician apprenticeship program

What other province or city do you recommend, good sir?
I'm trying to gather some info about Montreal. I was interested in Alberta because I have more info about that province than the others, but any other will be fine for me.

My end goal is to leave my country and start a new life, a better one.
