Hi. I need help. I have been asked to submit the new forms again with the medicals. In dependents section of the new generic form (personal details: part 12) where it asks for dependent type, I have a problem. When I was applying in December 2009, my son was under 22, therefore type A. His age and type must have been 'locked in' at the time when my application reached Nova Scotia then. However, now my son is over 22. So what do I do? He was not type B when I applied, yet now if I fill the forms again, technically he can't be type A either on the forms. So what do I do??
Also, my son has dual nationality, which passport details should be put on the form?

Hi Beckett,

This is what I think:

1. Your son's age has been locked already (u already know that) and that information is AVAILABLE with CIC.

2. For UPDATION provide the current age.

3. What was his Nationality in the initial application package? It seems that he acquired DUAL nationality on a later date......in that case provide the Nationality of his birth.

PLEASE also provide a cover letter wherein you can mention your concern regarding the UPDATION forms and the locking of the age factor....be very clear that you have provided the recent information but your son's age was locked as less than 22 yrs in the initial application (IMPORTANT).

Also mention the dual nationality issue and since you were in a dilemma, you have provided the Nationality of his Birth.

Thank you for replying. My son has dual nationality since birth. He was born in Ireland and holds Pakistani nationality by descent.
I will certainly write a covering letter, thanks.
So, finally, should I mark him as the original Dependant type A as he was when I first applied? This ia what I want to know.

Hi Beckett,

IMO, you should have "A".....and explain in cover letter.
Ireland for nationality....what had you put in your Initial application?

Do revert back with the answers.....for my quenching my curiosity ;)

Curiosity killed the cat....haha!
But to answer your question, I had mentioned both passport numbers and nationalities in the initial application (it was filled in by hand, so I could). With these new forms, the options are all limited and anything else just cannot be inserted. I am not sure whether I should submit his Pakistani, or Irish passport for the visa?

Lol.... ;D ;D ;D

Actually you can insert both the information.... :D

Type in the info of one of the Nationality and get a Printout and then include the other by hand. ;)

Hope this helps.... :)

Hmmmm.....thanks. I will insert it by hand. But the barcode will not show it up when they scan it, that's the issue!

You will have information on paper (by hand and in your cover letter)...they will find ways to insert it in their Database.

I have already informed CIC regarding this issue (long time back in Dec 2011) and probably they will come up with some other software to help insert additional information.
