Applying as a Parent for Minors Visitor Record

Hi, I've just renewed my minor Son’s passport and want to extend his visitor record to match with the expire day on my work permit. When I apply for Visitor Record extension, I could not find anywhere to apply on behalf of the minor. We are in Canada.

Will I apply from my account or do I need to create a new account in his name. What is the process of applying as a Parent for my son.

If I apply on his behalf do I need to add the form “Use of Representative”

If 4 or above he should really be applying for a study permit. How long you have left on your WP, what is your NOC and your ability to support your child in Canada will be considered when applying for the study permit or visitor record if under 4.

He is 14. I may apply for Study permit or Visitor record.

NOC is 31301. I plan to show paystubs and related bank statements for ability to support

You can use any account and yes you need a Use of a Representative Form (IMM 5476)

The study permit gives your child much better status than a visitor. Also more schools are asking for proof of study permit. What IRCC is pushing people to do although technically your child should be able to remain as a visitor. If you apply for a visitor record I would attach a request to extend the visitor record until the expiry date of your WP.
