if you have english translation, you don't need the assessment in most cases. However if you are talking about a professional job (accountant, lawyer, doctor) you must meet the requirement to practice in the province. For example, you need to obtain some certification to practice accountancy in Alberta. it does not mean you can not be an accountant, but you can not practice accountancy (your own practice) without obtaining certification. That may require some assessment to get the canadian equivalence.

But generally speaking, your translation is good for the immigration purpose. But for the job purpose, it will depend on your profession and the professional rules applicable.

I found a job in the following website (from the government) and now I'm working in Canada:

http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/

Here you will find a list of occupations under pressure listed by region at the bottom of the page:

http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/en/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/occunderpres.shtml

Below you will find a list of occupations that are expedited in Alberta and BC:

http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/en/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/elmopp/elmoppone.shtml

You may work in a related field or in whatever field you choose. I suggest you choose a job from the list. You can then seach the job in the Job Bank website. Employers who want to hire foreign workers are sometimes required to advertise in the Job Bank.

God bless you.
