MCC. This has nothing to do with your current job title. This is proof of what education you completed.

Thanks May 88,

I got confused because for pharmacists the following was written in the CIC website:
  • if you are in a position where you do not need a license (organizations such as the pharmaceutical industry and government which require a pharmacy degree because of the education or skill set, but may not require a licence to practice pharmacy), you can have your credentials assessed by one of the other designated ECA organizations. Contact the regulatory authority in the province where you plan to live to find out if you need a licence to practice your intended occupation.

My WES report indicates my Canadian equivalent degree is a first professional degree in medicine( Doctor of medicine), but I don't have doctor license in Canada yet and also I am working in a car dealership now. can I use this ECA report to get 135 points in education factor?

Thanks your help!
Dear mondayliang,

Where did you get your ECA from, WES or MCC? I am MBBS doctor but working in clinical research in Singapore.

I was in your exact same situation. I did the WES then ended up having to do the MCC as well, so don't waste your time and always stay on the safe side.

Thanks May88,
How long did it take for you to do the ECA by MCC?

About 3 months. It's a long process, but I also sent the wrong documents, plus I had to get them translated. Hopefully, yours won't take as long.
Dear May88,
May I know what your primary NOC was? Actually, the consultant I have been talking to said that as my primary NOC is not of a physician, I can use the ECA report issued by WES. I am so confused.

To my knowledge, even though the WES says you're "Canadian equivalent degree is a first professional degree in medicine( Doctor of medicine)", you still need to do the ECA by MCC. Again, this is to my knowledge.
Good luck.

This is direct quote from WES website regarding ECA:

Principal applicants intending to apply as a Physician/Specialist Physician (NOC 3111 or 3112) must be assessed by the Medical Council of Canada. Individuals intending to apply as a Pharmacist (NOC 3131) must have an assessment from the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada. For more Information for Physicians and Pharmacists, please visit Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

So if your NOC is not one of the above no need for MCC ECA.. WES is sufficient

MCC source verification of credentials is an important step in gaining licensure to practice medicine in Canada... That is different than applying for PR
MCC of course takes much longer to verify ur credentials as they send it to ECFMG who in turn independently verify your degree directly with the medical school
