No, we did not apply as common-law, so I did not include IMM5409E.
No, neither I nor my wife used a representative, so I did not include IMM5476E or IMM5476E.
No, we do not have any dependents, so I did not include IMM0008DEPENU.

Though I didn't include the forms, I did write N/A on the checklist. I hope that will be good enough.
I did not include these in my application packet, just did the N/A on the checklist, you are fine, no need to freak out.

None of them are applicable to my situation, but do the people who check for completeness care about whether forms are applicable or not or do they just go by a single checklist?

They care if they are applicable.

If none is applicable, all you needed to do is write N/A against these forms on the two checklists.

It states: "check each item". No such thing as N/A.

Do not give interpretation to CIC instructons, this leads to errors. The instructions are rather clear, just check what is included. Nothing more.

Well say that to people who got their applications returned for being incomplete because they did indicate clearly these forms were not applicable to them. Sometimes it depends on who reviews the file but, then why go through the trouble of waiting for weeks only to have the application returned because of this? No one would want to take that chance.
