I am just trying to figure out what is happening on the sponsorship application of my husband from New Zealand. So I am a Canadian citizen and have sponsored my husband who is an Indian Citizen residing in New Zealand on a work permit. Our application has been in process now for 18 months and we have had an interview as well and the interview was positive but we have not heard from CIC after the interview though. I am purely guessing when I say this but I think it is because of the New Zealand PCC as that is not issued as in most other countries. You are supposed to fill out a disclosure form and submit to CIC and CIC contacts the NZ Police directly to obtain a PCC for the applicant. Now I am wondering if anyone has been in this kinda situation as us where the applicant was being sponsored from NZ and needed a police certificate from NZ? If yes, would you please share how long it took for CIC to get the police certificate from NZ and how long after did you hear regarding your application decision after that?

Any feedback will be appreciated!

Thanks so much! :)

I doubt the wait has anything to do with the NZ PCC. It only takes day to be issued and CIC would have most likely requested it before the interview was conducted.

If you want to know what is happening, you can ask your MP to inquire or request your GCMS notes.

Do you know how long it takes for them to get the PCC from NZ?
And I have requested GCMS notes and done an MP enquiry already. Waiting for a response for both but just wanted to see if anyone has experienced this already?
Also, my husband had to get PCCs from 3 different countries - UK, India and NZ (which would be requested by Immig Canada directly) and when we went in for the interview pretty sure they had expired 2 weeks before that but they have not requested for any new PCCs either so wondering if they have he ability to extend it for 2-3 months to finalize the case (as my consultant says)??

As I already said, it only takes a few days for the NZ PCC to be issued.

Provided a person does not return to a country after the PCC was issued, it doesn't expire.

Oh I see! So youre saying all his PCCs would still be valid (India, UK and NZ whenever they got it) because he hasnt been back to the UK or India to reside. Been residing in NZ for the last some years now...

Yes, that's correct.
