Hi,

I'm a colombian national, my wife is Canadian, she is my sponsor under family class application.
About two months ago I got requested my security check background, I sent my military card, copy of my ID (cédula), copy of payment and the fbi police certificate which I believe is the one you get online on registraduria.gov (pasado judicial) I got that doc legalised, and so it's translations. A couple days ago the embassy got ahold of me telling me I haven't submitted the fbi police certificate, I don't know if the document I sent is the wrong one or if the embassy just lost that document. Thanks for your time, I would appreciate your comments. God bless you

This is the process you should have followed to obtain an FBI certificate:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/united-states.asp

Is this what you did?

Did you apply to the Colombian VO, or did you apply in Canada?

They said the Visa Office would send instructions when they request the police certificates, did they give you instructions? I also don't know how to do this and am waiting.

Hi lessen and scylla,

Thanks for your response, so in the link you sent me you'll be able to see that in colombia fbi police certificate it only says that the embassy will provide instructions, however when I got the email it doesn't give instructions at all. It only says provide fbi police certificate.
Does anybody know which specific document they are referring to? I sent El pasado judicial from the cancillería.gov with its translations and both legalised. So if that's the right document they lost it in the embassy cos they received the other documents in that 1 package. I've been emailing the embassy and the response fast but with unaccurate information

As far as I know...you need to make a deposit into a specific bank account (which is listed on the canadian immigration website under colombian nationals) and you don't physically get the FBI check in your hands. When the deposit is made you scan it, along with your information to the embassy showing you paid for the check. It can take weeks for the clearance to appear in the embassy, but you dont send it yourself, the company who you paid for and requested it through will send it directly to the embassy.

Are we talking about the fbi certificate from the United States??? Or the police certificate from Colombia?

I know that you have to go to a bank and pay 60.000 pesos, then they give you some sort of letter that you can send to the Canadian embassy. There are a few members here who have done it already, maybe they will know more.

Hi there,

Today I got a reply from the embassy specifying that I need a fbi police clearance from the United States, it is because I was in the states for 7 months, does anybody know of fingerprint authorised companies who will take your fingerprints for the fbi check?

Hi I’ m having the same problem and do not know how to get the fbi clearance and do it from Colombia, can you tell me how you do it? Thanks
