My husband already has a visitor visa for Canada, and I am sponsoring him to become a permanent resident. All is almost finished, probably in 6-8 weeks he should get the permanent resident visa.
Right now he is not in Canada, but he would like to come here for the holidays. This won't be a problem, as he already has a visa, but soon they will ask him to send the passport to the Canadian Embassy and get his permanent resident visa.

Is there a way to avoid another trip outside Canada?
We could mail the passport to some family member, who will mail it to the Embassy and later sent it back to us - that is the easy part.

But how can he do the landing to Canada if he's already here? A trip to US is not an option, as he doesn't have an US visa. What else?

Thank you in advance for any ideas.

You should really look into this because some countries don't like passport to be mailed out of country...you should check with the embassy as well...sending passport within in the country is difficult and we are talking here overseas...try contacting some of the vendors like DHL or UPS...they should have an idea if they will be able to process your request.

If he is in Canada when he gets the visa, there are 3 ways to land, one is leave by plane and land when coming back, another is drive to the US border and flagpole and you do not need a US visa to do that, you just tell the US side that you came to deal with Canada immigration and they will turn you around and the third is to make an appointment with CIC to land at your local CIC office in your town but you may have to wait several weeks to get an appointment.
