Hello Canrushi,Johnny31 ,

I am also hearing that the CIC is returning many applications due to their different way of FSW points calculations for IELTS scores which would reduce the points to below 67.. The Visa officer actually verify our overall scores with different CLB levels and assign a particular CLB level to our entire score to determine the FSW points. So the points are not actually calculated for each ability and then added up like how we thought before..

I filed my application last month and if I calculate my scores as per the CIC , I would then fall under CLB level 7 that gets me just 16 points which is 3 points short of 67 pass mark. I am also worried now. I am expecting my application to be returned as well.. I have no clue what to do now.. Why are they not so clear about the FSW points calculation for IELTS? They are creating a lot of confusion....

My Scores

Listening - 7
Reading - 6
Writing - 7
Speaking - 6.5

Shine Alex

Listening 7 = 4 points
Reading 6 = 4 points
Writing 7 = 6 points
Speaking 6.5 = 5 points

Total = 19 points

Everything is very clear - it`s only unclear if you do not know how to calculate it correctly

Even I am not sure how CIC calculates points... but as per forum every one is claiming that points are calculated individually so be positive and you will make through your application...

Keep posting on this forum once you receive update from CIC so every one knows about that...

Good luck...

Hey guys,

I just saw my result today.
Its as follows;

Listening: 7.5
Reading: 8.0
Writing: 7.0
Speaking: 7.5
Overall: 7.5

I know for listening the CLB 8 is 7.5 and 6.5 each for speaking, reading and writing.

Now in my own case, I see I got above 6.5 in Speaking, writing and reading but got 7.5 in Listening. I'm wondering where does that place me. In CLB 8 or CLB 9?

Using my calculation, I got 23. Look at my calculation below;

Listening 7.5 (CLB8) - 5 points
Reading 8.0 (CLB9) - 6 points
Writing 7.0 (CLB9) - 6 points
Speaking 7.5 (CLB9)- 6 points
TOTAL - 23 points

I am still not sure how many points I will get for my application. Does it mean I have 23 points for my application?

Is the maximum 24 or 28 points?

Hope to get some help or clarification.

THANKS!!!

Your calculation of 23 total points is correct. Maximum is 24

To be eligible for FSW - you'd need to have a 67 or above in your total qualification points. and the 23 you've scored would go towards that.

Good Luck

Already answered on the other post - you're ineligible for FSW with this score.
