Hi

My case is a bit reversed:

My familly and my Ontario PR will expire in Dec 2013. We landed in Dec 2008 and we all left after 2 weeks.
All in all, I spent less that 2 months in Canada as I had to keep working outside Canada unfortunately during last 4 years.
Last summer, I accompanied my wife and children (17 and 15 year old) to have them settle down in Canada and have my children registered in the university & school then I left Canada again after renting an Apart + School registration ... to continue working and supporting them financialy from outside Canada.
My wife and kids are then locked there for 2 continous years without leaving Canada, to be able to maintain their PR status and renew their PR.

My wife found a part time job around 400$ / month in a school. Not enough of course !
I have to wire funds every couple of months to support their financial needs.

I will probably loose my PR in December. I may obtain 10 year Multiple Exit/ReEntry Visa but:

How can my wife sponsor me while I am supporting her financially, it's a reversed case ?Thank you :'(

Please advise, Thank you

This is quite common, my fiancé supports me so I can stay at home with our children but I still sponsored him. There is no minimum income requirements for spousal sponsorships, I would just make sure you have enough funds to support you all when you eventually move - unless you already have a job lined up of course.

Best of luck x

I can think of several options:

1) You can return now to Canada and stay here continuously for 2 years and apply to renew your PR. Then you are good to go for another 5 years (my suggestion)

2) If your Passport is from a visa exempt country then you can take a chance of coming and going (that is you let your PR card expire)

3) If you have worked outside for a Canadian company, then you should be able to use the time working outside towards the days counted for PR obligation (I am not about this though)

I don't think, your spouse will be able to sponsor you, since you were the one that sponsored her in the first place.

Unless i misread, he didnt' state that HE sponsored HER, they could have come under a different sponsorship, in that case she can sponsor him if needed.

Options 1 and 2 given above are great ideas if you can manage that. for the canadian company option, i think you have to have been hired by the canadian company in canada and then transferred out of canada. i'm not sure about this, but i do remember this coming up in different posts on this forum.

This is completely correct. To sponsor a spouse, there are no income requirements. She has to have a plan, which can be you working. She can write a letter, stating your intended occupation and include some research to what those jobs pays, they are available in your area, etc. She can also include copies of your diplomas, showing you have education to match. (That last part is overkill.)

The bigger problem you'll have is convincing Canada you will live inside the country.

Thank you all for your kind replies.

In reply to amikety: All requirements you mentioned can be met in my case (I am working as an IT Engineer).
However, do you know about similar case who obtained the sponsorship ?

Thanks

Yes, I know of a stay-at-home that sponsored her husband and a student who sponsored his CL wife without a job at all.
