Thank you....and now the process begins :o I am working on the application now... :-\

Met my husband January 2006
Officially started dating July 2006
Decided to get hitched September 2009
Got hitched May 2010

I have friends who started dating their partner around the same time as me and they are already married and on kid number 2! All planned! AND they are Canadian! Time lines aren't a huge issue. You just have to convince the CIC officer that you are truly in love :)

This is very true.
Just show everything you have. If it is legitimate, you will succeed.
But then again, a few people fall through the cracks. I am sorry for those.

Let's not worry about anything and let's enjoy the paper work and then wait.

Good luck to you all....

Engaged a month, engaged a year. It does not matter. As long as you are happy.
Good luck.

Met online fall 2001.
Met in person July 2006.
Engaged March 2009.

So, a little over 3 years between when we met face-to-face and when we got married.

Good luck.

exactly!! some ppl will meet, spend longer time together, wait more before the marriage and maybe have a very short engagement; others, meet, will engage faster and then marry 1-2 years after the engagement; this is not university studies; there r different personal situations, different circumstances; as long as u love each other and take the step when u both feel it's the right time :)

me too...i'm preparing papers :-X good luck for all!!

Well i would like to share with everyone that my medical exams have been received by Ottawa. (Fedex Confirmation).

I have also received my FBI criminal background check, everything good there too.

I have everything ready in my computer to be printed out (Receipts, pictures, tickets, chat logs, phone bills, etc).

What is holding us back is trying to finish up our applications. My wife's application (sponsor) is totally finished) but my application (applicant) is under construction. We are now writing how our relationship has developed through the years.

We are looking at March 1st to be ready to mail our applications to the immigration office.

Good luck to everyone.

My case is an expedited one!

Met my wife: Feb. 2010
Engaged: May 14, 2010
Married: Jun. 11, 2010
Application filed: Sept. 9, 2010

It appears very quick, but I was 32 at the time and working in her country. We saw each other daily and it really is perfect love. I knew what I had to do because my work assignment in her country was ending and I couldn't bare the feeling that we could end as well. We did full out wedding (videographer, photographer, 45 people reception, my parents attending via Skype). She's the love of my life and need this to end soon...

You know when you just have that feeling that you absolutely 100% know you'll be together till the end? Well that's how I feel and it's crazy really how fast it happened...

Wow! Same with us....everything happened so quickly....We met online in August 2010....Wedding date set for April 9th 2011....

There will be 150 guests at the wedding....none from my side, hehehe...Lylee (my fiance) is from a small island in the Philippines (Siquijor) where everybody knows everybody....should be interesting...Siquijor is approximately 15,000 km away from my home in Toronto, so I'll be lucky if I can even coerce my brother to come along as best man....let alone anyone else...14 hours in the air from Toronto to Hong Kong...then From Hong Kong there is another 2 1/2 hour flight to Cebu Philippines. Long and BRUTAL flight...

Skype broadcasting of wedding? Sounds interesting....I will have to check into that...

Yes, in Russia they have 4G internet, so via USB internet stick and my Macbook Pro, my parents where there! We got photos of that and immigration could see my parents with a decorated table and friends there to witness at 5:30AM their morning. It was an unforgettable day! I would have thought smug on someone that did everything at our speed, but it felt perfect. I realize now that time is not important, it really is the connection.

I agree, family members and friends don't want to travel so far on such short notice, you'd have to plan a year ahead to prepare everyone, but sometimes that isn't in the cards :)

I'm also in Toronto... 9 hour flight to Istambul, 2.5hr flight to Sochi, Russia...
