How long after you met face to face, did you get married?

I am off topic, but I see many people wrote they did not have an official engagement date. I am the same. I am wondering how you explained this as there is a question that asks when you got engaged, did you just make up an approximate date as to when talks of marriage started?

I gave details about my bridal shower. I did have an "official date of engagement" it was the day when he gave me our engagement ring in a very romantic way.
But we had discussed and agreed to get married before (way before, years before), we were even preparing the wedding by then. We just wanted to do it "officially" as a sweet memory for both.

Started talking online January 2004.
Went to see him in Canada August 2004 and stayed for 2 weeks. I met his parents and brothers and grandmother.
Back and forth visits for about 4 years.
Engaged Feb. 7, 2009 when he came to see me in California.
Married June 8, 2010. Immidiate family came on both sides to wedding. Even some people from Belfast -Hubby is a Canadian PR originally from Belfast.

I was 31 when I met my husband and he was 19. Age isn't a number and when I expressed concern over it, Boyfriend (now hubby) said, "My family can't stop me from being with you and if they try, F*** em!" True love isn't embarrased or concerned and true love will go to the ends of the earth to make it so, despite what others think.

Thanks!!! A couple more weeks and she'll be here! We are so excited - it's been almost 2 months and the wait just sucks! And it gets harder every time one of us has to go home. The wedding and PR can't get here fast enough!
