That's awesome! Sponsorship was approved May 1st, they received the package May 8th and they approved 10th. So, it took only like 2 days for them to approve? Amazing !! :)

thanks guys, well its still the PPR, Manila VO is known to send the passport request letter within a few days or weeks upon receiving the application package from CIC, but the approval of visas may still take a couple of weeks to a couple of months from when they receive the passport. But still, this is actually a very nice surprise for us, after going thru 97 days for sponsorship approval, 15 days for PPR is a huge huge sigh of relief. And I hope we will also be blessed with fast approval of visa =) It's a huge weight off our shoulders to be actually just waiting for the final phase.. as compared to two weeks ago when I was freaking out because we haven't received sponsorship approval yet =)

Wow Manila is so fast!

I bet that the fact you were so well organized and had so much information only lead them to believe you even more. They didn't have to dig for any information? I will surely follow your tips and copy your organization style when I send my file in this August!

Thank you, actually, for Manila VO, the "digging" part will still be happening after they receive the passport.. basing on experiences of those who have already their visas, it is after the PP has been sent and received by the VO that they saw the e-cas status change to "in process" so we assume that that's the time when they actually review our file and evidence / proof of rel'p =)

Oh, I thought PPR is where they request passports when all the review is done and they are ready to issue the visas... Actual review after receiving the passpost... is this just Manila or regular practice at all VOs? :-\

I am not sure if this is regular practice among VO's.
Manila is a fairly fast VO that's why they ask for passports before review (or maybe they are already reviewing while waiting for the passport, lol) , I have seen Visas issued as short as within one week of receiving passports..there is even one very exceptional case where they started processing, and issued the visa on the very same day. (but many can also take months -I guess it depends on how straightforward the cases are)
But for other VO's with processing times that could take more than a year, I think I have read around that they take their time in sending out PPR, so I guess review is being done before they give PPR.

Peli... thanks for the clarification. I was basically going by the processing times they post on the CIC website. Manila says 9 months there. I am happy that it takes significantly lesser than what they post on their website.

P.S: didn't allow me to post the link here for the processing times page
