jckdry,
you have your pr visa and pr card and you are just landing in canada for the 1st time?

hi cvuser,
the PR visa is a 1 use visa you will need when you land for the 1st time. you cannot use it again.

you will have to apply for a pr card when you land in canada. this will be your new visa to canada, you will need this to present to the airline or any public transport when you go to canada so you will be allowed to board.

your pr visa will expire with your medicals.. if you had medical this may, usually the visa will be until may next year.

Hi
I have pr visa - just got it 2 weeks ago
I have not landed in canada yet
My medicals are valid until feb 22 2010, so i can land before that
Planning to land soon tho to get PR card
PR visa can be used with travel documents to travel to Canada if u dont have PR card after yr first visit, which ahppens if u dont have permanent adress in canada and r going for couple of days for initial landing

But to get PR card u need to land in canada atleast once

So everyone gets a 1 year PR Visa? Is this renewable just incase it expires? any extension?

In most cases it's valid one year from the time you did your medicals. You will have several months, up to a year to use this visa and land in Canada. If you choose not to do that, the visa expires. There are no extensions or renewals.

If you are not ready to move to Canada by the time your visa is set to expire, you can land in Canada, stay long enough to get your PR card or have it sent to friends or relatives and then leave again. As soon as you land, the clock starts ticking for your residency requirements so you can not be outside Canada for more than 3 out of the first 5 years of your PR and after that, no more than 3 years out of any 5 year period.

I thought once I get my PR card, it is a 6 year PR even if I live in USA?

Dear CV User,

Request you to either speak to your consultant in detail OR read throught the EG7 and OP6 documents in detail. the best source of answers for your questions is www.cic.gc.ca .

Next, search for your question in the forum database using the search feature on the top right section of this webpage.

In case you don't find answers, instead of asking abrupt questions in a dialogue, please make a list of your questions on the forum and I'm sure someone will reply to all of them in one go.

In a most likely situation, you have been misinformed by your consultant and you are alarmed to learn the facts from this forum. So, kindly calm down once and post all questions in one post, unless you are in race to compete with Leon in number of posts :D
