Hi Everyone,

My issue is pretty common. On my Indian passport, my name (XXXX YYYY) is listed under the given name column, but on my PR card, it is listed under Last name.
How do I get it changed from BLS Brampton? What documents are needed? If someone has done it recently, please let me know.
I want to get it done before I apply for my Canadian citizenship.

Passport:
Given name: XXXX YYYY
surname: blank

Pr card:
Given name: blank
Last name: XXXX YYYY

You’ll need to apply for a PR card amendment/correction through IRCC, not BLS Brampton. Usually they ask for your passport copy, PR card, and a letter explaining the name mismatch. It’s best to contact IRCC or check their official correction process before applying for citizenship.

Hi @Asaing40 have you or anyone else successfully done this? i tried to get my PR card updated through IRSS but they keep asking me to submit a name change document or a provisional ID with the correct name split (which i dont have as all provisional ID are driven by name on PR card!) not sure how i can get my PR card updated to match my updated passport with the correct name split.

Research on names on provincial id policies online and then visit different provincial offices to get ur name corrected based on ur split named passport. They sometimes ask for any university id or t4 with name split to supplement ur foreign split passport.

IF the officer refuses, visit another office. Unlike ircc, they don't document ur visits to them. So u can visit 10 offices and u will get provincial split id like that.
