Yesterday my wife received a parcel from HK containing various letters, pictures and other original proof we submitted with our application. Has anyone else received their relationship proof back from the visa office? And what does that mean? We have already submitted our passport.

mcdouga99, earlier this week my wife also received her stuff, she also has her passports already submitted. My best guess is that they no longer need that stuff because the whole process is over. Just need to wait for the passports to come back with the visa and finally come to canada :)

In May 2015 it took 10 months to process 80% of applications and in July 2015 it takes 20 months? It is not feasible mathematically, unless the 20% of applications left over from BEFORE July 2014 (May 2015 - 10 months which left unprocessed) are now comprising 80% of ALL applications received from November 2013 (July 2015 - 20 months) till now.
So unless the number of applications in the last 2 years was going down by over 50% year over year it would not make any sense. And if it actually does - it means just the opposite - faster processing times for everyone whoever applied in the last year , as the number of new applications is very small.
The most logical answer is that it is just a mistake, either calculation mistake or upload mistake, for example someone uploading FSW timelines oin the spousal category. Even the timing of the update is questionable as the next quarterly update was supposed to be on August, 20th

First of all, let me say I agree that it is most likely a mistake. Let's not even talk of Beijing. Hong Kong increased by 100% in length, but Cairo also had a significant 40% increase from 20 to 28 months.

I can think of an example how the numbers could get skewed and thus remain looking unreasonable for now and another 10 months. Say they were usually averaging 100 per month of cases finalized and 80% of them had taken 10 months or less. Suddenly in May the HKVO boss tells the agents finish the application you are almost done with and get cracking on these backlogged (for whatever reason) cases from HK and Beijing that have been in limbo for over 3 years but shouldn't take long to finish due to a certain ruling or whatever. So in June and July they got a whole lot finalized that were shockingly sitting there for a long time (maybe abandoned) and so the 80% mark for everyone in the last year got raised to 20 months. It would take a whole year of the old rate of 100 per month for 10 months to knock off those 2 huge months and make the processing time show 10 months again. Meanwhile we are not allowed to ask about our cases for 20 months which is unreasonable.

I hope they just made a mistake and sneak in a recalculated processing time in the near future.

Just wanted to update my situation, they are now requesting for new medical.

Hopefully, it will be the last document :D

Don't worry. You will be fine. :)
I havent heard anything from HKVO for 2 weeks after IP.

I wish I will receive any email from them by next week, at least i know they are actually processing my app.
I am still not sure whether they will request the HK police clearance from me since I have been in Canada from the age of 17.
I submitted my RCMP in the beginning though.

Good luck to everyone!

hi LN9714,

If you are going to send to HKVO, all you have to do is going to the Case Specific Enquiry - Hong Kong webpage to upload the PDF of your passport. please see your PPR website and click the webpage and fill-in your UCI and related information and upload it accordingly. and send the noted to HKVO to saying that you have already loaded along with your 3 pictures
in the registered mail.

Hi Ian,
My wife did her medical after we submitted her application. Can I use the same method as you described to upload her medical letter to HKVO, instead of mailing the physical copy? Thanks in advance!

When is the next quarterly updates of the VO processing time? November?

20 months is too frustrating.......

Hi Braveblade,
Where you did your medical check ? as I know that the medical centre will automatically send the medical result to HKVO if you submitted her application in the initial stage so I believe that it should be OK if you have done it. your ECAS should showed the medical have been done in PA side

Thanks Ian.
Application for my wife was sent in March 2015. She didn't do the medical at that time because she wanted to avoid the expiration of the medical exam. She did her medical in July 2015 in Shanghai. When she provided her UCI/App number to the medical clinic, she was told that the exam has to be requested from CIC if she wants the medical clinic to send the result automatically to CIC using her UCI (need to have a IME number which she didn't have). There was no request and we don't want to wait until CIC to request for it. So she did an up-front medical exam. So instead of doing an up-front medical exam before sending the package like mosty of people did, she did it after sending the package. She was given a form called "eMedical Information Sheet" with UMI barcode at the end of the exam. That's the form I'm trying to submit to HKVO. Can I use the same method as you described to upload her medical letter to HKVO?

yes, you can send the copy of this to telling HKVO that you did the medical in order to speedup your process.

hi,

Hong Kong Driver Licence Issues :-

Anyone can give me advice how should I do to change the Ontario driving licence (after landing) which i got driving licence (HK) for more than 20 years. can I exchange it directly in Ontario or need to go thru Road Test only based on my HK driving authority letter ( saying that I have more than 2 years). However, I heard someone can get it directly without Road test (only written test). Not sure which one is correct ? anyone holds HK driver licences to give me detail about it.

Have you had Ontario driver license before? I only have experience from my family member that got BC license then can change back from HK license without knowledge or road test. However, you need to surrender your Hk license. Not sure if Ontario handles the same

Hi Bukeluke,
yes, I had the Ontario driver license before, unfortunately, it is expired 20 years ago and I didn't renew it. am I able to exchange back Ontario driver License using my HK license , assuming that I surrender it. anyone know that ??

If anyone know this procedure, please let me know too... Thanks
