Hiring an international student as a contactor

I'm looking at (as a first hire) offering a 4 month contract to an international student currently studying in Canada. The school is one of the approved schools, and it is in the field of Computer Science in Vancouver. Do laws allow for that? I looked over lots of the FIN documents, and internship documents but can't find anything specific about contractors.

Is the student still in school full time? Are you looking to hire the student full time or part time?

They would be doing the 4 month leave from school with permission, they are still in full-time though. It would be the same amount of time as an internship. The goal was to hire full-time, or that numbers of hours.
