Hello All,

Please I need your expert opinion regarding my visa application. I have been living and working in the UK for the past 5 years. I have a work permit valid until 2016 and I have about £2,000 in my bank account. I have also visited about 5 countries within the past 5 years. I plan to visit Canada for a friends graduation in and will stay for 7 days.

1. I would like to know how much i would require to show proof of funds for my TRV application. Will the 2,000 be sufficient?
2. Would it be better to have someone write me a letter of invitation (but I plan to stay in a hotel) or should I just apply as a tourist without an invitation letter?
3. Is it compulsory I book my return ticket before I apply?
3. Are there any other documents that I can include to improve my chances.

Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

Yes

An invitation letter's main use is to state your "Purpose of visit". So it is quite secondary where are you staying.

No

Many. Always back up your intentions with documentation. In your case make sure to be clear on addressing this question: "Why should Canada believe you will leave the country at the end of your visit?"... it is not acceptable to answer "I have no reasons to stay". Letter of employment with hard dates, clear purpose of visit, schedule of visit, clear relationship with the person that is inviting you, etc. You are an immigrant with temporary status, you have to prove that you are attached to the UK (which in fact you aren't as you are "temporary" by definition).

Hi Jalex 23,

Thanks for your advice in my earlier post. I applied for my visa on Oct 24 and my passport was returned with a multiple entry visa till 2018 2 working days after. Your advice did come in handy as I was able to strengthen my application.

Did you apply online or through VAC?
