Hello all,
I am here under IEC WHV which expires July 7. I have been working from day 1 (except quarantine) and my employer wants me to stay and work further for him. As far as I understand, I cannot extend my WHV as this is not the intention of IEC.

I was told, I could apply for PR (either PNP or another stream) to gain implied status and be able to work further. Is that true? Does a PR application automatically grant me the right to stay and to work further? Also, I heard about the International Mobility Program. If I applied under this stream my employer would not need to have an LMIA? How does this work?

All answers are sincerely appreciated. Thanks.

1. You can apply for PR through EE or PNP but you have to receive a nomination before you can be on implied status. Just submitting an application doesn’t allow that. Are you eligible for EE or PNPs? Do you have IELTS and ECAs?
2. How are you eligible under IMP? Your employer needs to start the process and determine eligibility. Again this will not be completed in a month.

Thanks. As far as I know, International Mobility Program is just for LMIA-exempt jobs, is that right? Otherwise, you will need to have an LMIA?

If your employer is willing to pay for it, there's a program called Global Talent Stream, where you may be eligible under category B if you work in one of the listed occupations. This an accelerated program that could get you an LMIA + closed WP in 20 business days (10 for LMIA and 10 for WP).

I don't think PR is an option for you to keep working without a break (unless you've already done all of the prep work). You are too short on time. PNP definitely isn't an option. A nomination will take too long and you have less than a month now.

Express Entry / CEC "might" be an option if: (1) you've already had your education assessed officially (2) you've already completed an official language test and have the results (3) you have at least one year of full time work experience in Canada in a NOC A / B or 0 profession (4) have enough points to be selected. Have you done the prep work? (i.e. have ECA and IELTS or CELPIP) Do you have a year of work experience in Canada in a skilled profession? Do you know how many points you have under EE and are you in the pool?

GTS (see post above) is probably your best option this late in the game.

Good luck!
