Ok this situation might be a bit complicated so this post could get slightly long. I apologize in advance.

I successfully landed in Canada and received my PR card in July 2010, with expiration in July 2015. I received the PR as a dependent under my parents (I was under 18 when the application was first submitted in 2006).

I am however currently starting my first year of university in the United States. (which means I will finish my studies in May 2015.) Because I have only spent about 1 month (or even less) in Canada so far, I will definitely not be able to fulfill the residency requirements. However, I am still interested in moving to/working permanently in Canada after I finish my studies.

So here is where it gets tricky. Is it possible for me to apply for a job inside Canada during my 4th year in university as a Permanent Resident, and then move to Canada to start the job?

Is it then possible to switch to a work permit or something with a hope to reapply/renew my PR in the future when my PR expires or can I simply stay in Canada for 730 days and then renew my PR?

Or will I simply be reported at the border for not fulfilling the requirements and then be at risk for deportation unless I apply for the work permit immediately?

Or is none of this at all possible?

Thanks.

1. You really should re-think your plans. You are going down a path which will probably result in the loss of your PR status. You may consider starting in the US and then transferring to a Canadian school.
