I seek some advice on our work permit situation. Sorry that some questions are basic but it would still help me to get confirmation.
Your help is highly appreciated.
My Situation:
Currently me and my wife are in Canada, Vancouver. I have an employer sponsored work permit (LMO) expiring in May 2014 and my wife is working on a dependent open WP. We haven't done our visa though.
I lost my job from June 1st 2013 but my employer has told me that they will hire me back in November 2013. Still I don't trust them and am looking for a new employer who will sponsor me a new WP.
Now...
1. Can I stay in Canada only on my existing WP? though I am not working?
2. If the new employer sponsors me a new WP what will happen to my wife's existing WP? Is there a way to put her on implied status while waiting for the new WP?
What I fear is a new WP will take 2 months to process and while we wait for the new WP my wife won't be able to continue her job for that period.
3. If we plan to do our visa, on my existing WP, will that be an issue considering I am jobless?
