Hi. Im a dr living in pakistan and applying for visitor visa soon. I wanted to know how to improve my chances of getting approval for visa.
I am married and have a child who will not be travelling with me. I have a permanent job since 12 years and will be getting a letter of approval for 1 month leave. I own a few properties. My sister is also a dr and recently got visa through skilled worker express entry. She will be moving to canada soon with her husband and kids. I have lived and studied in uk for 2 years in 2010. The reason for my travel is i want to see if canada would be a good option for me to move to and see the healthcare system over there and then apply for skilled worker visa as my sister did. I also have a first cousin who lives there. I want to know would it be better to mention that im visiting for purpose of potentially settling over there afterwards or just for visiting family and travelling?

first of All 1 month is very long period to state in your application.. and what other countries you travel alone or with family in past? is your cousin sending you a invitation what is a purpose of visit as it can be a main question a reason want to check that and that doesn't make any sense you must have solid reason to visit and some travel history rest senior @Bryanna can assist you best Good Luck

Thanks for the response. Yes my cousin is sending an invitation and i also plan to do some travelling in BC and PEI. But the main reason im going is to see if Canada would be a right move for me career wise as i’ve just completed my specialisation and don’t want to go through the hassle of applying for skilled worker visa for nothing.

Faraz, instead of highlighting one month travel which is a long holiday period, and will raise doubts in the minds of the visa processing officer... instead submit latter that states you will be visiting Canada for 15 days instead... Visit visas are being issued these days for a period of multiple entry - 10 yrs or till the validity of your passport which ever is earlier..
Once you receive your visa whether you wanna stay here for 15 days or 3 months, it will be your call at the end of the day.

First, applying and getting through EE PR would be just the beginning. You will need to go through medical exams to certify that you meet Canadian standards and regulations. You will have to go through the medical licensing process which could take many years to get through with a lot of hard
work and perseverance.

Second, applying shortly before your sister moves to Canada would make it seem like you are moving with her to stay long-term in Canada. It would be best if you wait for several months after your sister has landed as a PR and she would then invite you, not your cousin

Third, applying with the purpose you stated (to check if you'd like to move to Canada in the future) could result in a TRV refusal

Yes i’m aware of the whole process as my sister will be going through it and because it is a long process is precisely why i want to visit and make sure i would actually want to live there after all that effort. I need to decide soon whether to start my private practice in pakistan or settle elsewhere which is why i can’t wait for my sister to invite me. Can you please guide me which supporting documents i will need to increase my chances of getting approved?

Getting licensed to practice medicine as an IMG is a long and expensive process. Only a very small percentage of international physicians are licensed to practice in the end. Most are limited to becoming a GP. I strongly discourage international physicians from moving to Canada if they want to practice medicine.

So i’ve heard

Would appreciate if someone could suggest a list of supporting documents i may require to present with my application

Best is to call VFS +92-51-8439344 and figure out all the information.
VFS will not help to prepare the application, nor will they give advice for this. So, this won't work.

OP:
You could go through this forum for similar cases + check the Visa Office Instructions for Pakistan applicants. You will get an idea for the basic documents required. You can then post any specific questions
