Hearing canceled

[PR waiting]

Probably you will receive positive decision soon. It was less complex for me and I’ve sent all documents. But they said I need hearing. I was thinking about hearing and before 10 days they canceled and same day evening they sent positive decision without hearing.

Rarely but always exceptions.

I am just surprised there are almost 42k pending refugee claims from India. My understanding is that India is safe country and there is internal flight alternative.

Fairly new phenomenon at this volume. Most claims have no grounds and people have been given bad advice that this is an easy pathway to PR or a way to extend their stay in Canada.

@ Fakhir01, can you please share your time line. My hearing was scheduled today, but five days ago my lawyer told me that my hearing had been canceled and will be rescheduled to another date.

This is to confirm that the hearing scheduled for September 2, 2025 with respect to the above-mentioned claim for refugee protection has been postponed. The hearing will be rescheduled and a notice to appear containing the new hearing date and location will be provided to you at that time.

Any idea if my file will put back into file review process, or it is simply postponed for administrative reasons and will be rescheduled at later date.

I have like few goals in mind now to first of all apply for
1)CSQ
2)PR application
3) RAMQ.
Is this sequence correct? That's what i thought searching online and my lawyer also advised to get csq first and then pr application

Could you explain more pls what you mean with CSQ and RAMQ

Hi there, i just received a call this morning from unknow number. The person on the phone said that my hearing has been canceled and they will let know my lawyer.

What does this indicate? We had given them supporting documents before and after that hearing was scheduled and now it's canceled.

When IRCC or the Immigration and Refugee Board cancels a hearing, it often indicates one of the following:

They are reviewing new supporting documents you submitted, and the officer or member needs more time.

The case may be moving toward a decision without a hearing if the evidence is strong enough.

Scheduling or staffing issues (common).

The hearing member was changed, and they need to reassign your file.

It’s good that they said they will inform your lawyer — that means your legal representative will get the official reason and next steps.

The best thing to do now is wait for your lawyer to receive the notice, because the official cancellation letter will explain whether they are:

postponing the hearing,

reviewing the file further, or

possibly making a decision based on documents.

Try not to worry for now — hearing cancellations are quite common and are not automatically bad.

Had they told you that your case is in file review process means you are gonna get decision without hearing, did they give you letter stating that?

Hello I try to understand, I have this "notice to Minister on first hearing letter then when they postponed it they wrote maybe they approve without hearing or maybe they will schedule a new hearing date
I'm extremely frustrated and I don't know what's happening. Several questions are swirling in my head, and I can't find any answers. Did the lawyer request a postponement? Do they want a long hearing, or do they want an approval without a hearing? I don't know anything, but what I do know is that several people had their hearings postponed, only to have them approved a few days later. I received the postponed notice 10 days ago, and now I rush to my phone every time I hear a message arrives in my email
