Good morning and a happy Friday to you folks, just wanted to let all of you still waiting know that my wife finally got the call yesterday, asking her to come to the embassy on Wednesday (August 5th) at 8:30 AM with her passport and bring 2 passport pictures!!

So it would appear that our ordeal is finally done, I hope others here got some good news as well, or will be getting them shortly.

For you number crunching people, my progression was as follows:

Docs received in Mississauga:February 19th 2015
Docs received in Havana: April 29th 2015
Visa to be issued: August 5th 2015

Have a great weekend everyone, and to those still waiting SUERTE!

Thanks Galano and Krys.. I am in Montreal, so Quebec, to answer your question. Ironically, you would think that this might actually delay the process, because unlike any other province, Quebec has it's own immigration governing body, which required it's own set of forms and fees, and Havana doesn't move before you actually get their selection certificate..

Ooooo yours was quick like ours! Does your wife have family in the states? My husband doesn't so our thought was maybe that's why it didn't take too long

By the way guys IMO (like Skype) is now available in Cuba. This along with public wifi that they have opened up around the country, hopefully this should make the process a bit easier

hey newgirl1.. my wife has an uncle in Florida, and an aunt in Texas, but obviously this wouldn't count towards immediate family, and was not listed in submitted paperwork. Also, the other known "flags" (previous marriage(s), marked age difference, short time spent together, lack of contact proof, gaps in history documentation, etc.) were not an issue on my end, and I really went above and beyond in methodically putting together my documentation before sending it off (I'm no stranger to filing and reviewing extensive legal briefs, occupational hazard).

All this to say, no two applications are the same, so all these factors determine the outcome.. that, and having the luck of the docs landing in capable and willing hands on the back end..

As for Skype, through some very tech savy people I know in Havana, i was able to facilitate (por la izquierda of course) access to hotel wifi, and Skype through proxy servers, so that's how we've communicated for the past year.. I'm quite convinced it probably saved my marriage, and my sanity. Good to know that it's finally becoming available to the public down there...

Hi Madame R.. I know two other people in Quebec who both used immigration lawyers as well (I did not), and both submitted their applications one month, and 3 weeks before me (respectively). Neither of them has yet to receive a call, even though in the case of CIC Missisauga an MIDI Quebec, their timelines were in the same order as I just mentioned.

It's like you said, it appears that every case is different, and it's really after the files get to Havana that the developments get a little more cloudy, or at least the timelines become a lot more dependent to each individual case. Hang in there, since your file got to Havana a month before mine, I am sure it won't be much longer.

Europeo congrats, your situation gives some hope!

To those from Montreal/Quebec, my papers have been in Havana since February and I still haven't heard anything. Just in case the ''origin'' is of importance.
