Hello all. New to this site. Just wondering if most people used a lawyer to complete their applications or did it themselves?

Great to know that we can find help with each other here to get things done. Do you need an appointment for the medical certificate? My understanding was that it was first come first served? Also for the police certificate is it necessary to go to Havana to get or can you get that locally? I believe both the police certificate and medical are free correct?

Hi

My husband is from Banes and he had his police certificate done in Holguin. My understanding is that Nov is booked in Havana for Med and both are free. I think it is best to call Havana about Meds as that is what my husband is planning to do. We are waiting for marriage certificate I printed all the sheets from the CIC web and he is filling out those and having pictures done They need 4 for Meds and it is done electronically by the Panel Doc when you tell them it is Family Sponsorship

Thanks for the tips. Were you married on a resort? My undertsnding is if you "TIP" the co-ordinator for the wedding, that you can have marriage certificate on the spot. Is this true?? I mean, as we all know, everything in Cuba can be bought, and everything has a price...lol

Hi

Well you can get a copy but not the actual certificate as that goes to be registered and takes 15 days. All done by the Notary. We were married at Brisas Guardalavaca. My husband was the head chef at Club Amigo so knows the system and so if it were that easy I would have the certificate LOL. CIC wants the real thing of course.

Guess that is why they said it would be 15 days. It takes a month for my husband to get my cards or letters from Canada post and only 7 days to get his.
