Hey Ladies for those of you that are in the GTA..I am sure you have heard/been to Lulu Lounge (its a Cuban lounge). They have an awesome Sunday brunch that is usually only $15/per person. It is a buffet breakfast and includes live music and salsa lessons which are super fun. Travel zoo has a promo right now just thought I would share : ) Cheap brunch is always great!

It's only for Quebec residents ;-)

Ladies with hubby's coming after January 14th when the new immigration rules come into effect.

1) Cuba is NOT eliminating the PRE (permiso de resedencia en el exterior) at all, it will be status quo, and from the rumor mill, may now be mandatory for those that are married to a foreigner and leaving the country (not official just the word on the calle)
So you will have to wait and see what they will do, and there will be a lot of confusion

2) They will have to go to immigration and have their passports re-authorized with a new stamp to be valid.
Not sure if they can start doing that now, or if that also will be in effect after the 14th of January...

3) once they are here they must register at the consulate or embassy for consular registration $16 cdn
They need this to use any consular services and also to be allowed entrance into Cuba again.
This is very new and a little confusing to all Cubans, but it is required.

Just a heads up señoritas.... ;-)

So to sum it up. Everything stays the same except they have to pay to re-authorize their passports even if they are not expired and pay a $16 fee once here in Canada?!

:-[ confused

Supposedly the re-auth of the passports in Cuba is free and takes about a week.

And yes $16 consular fee here to register.

Ok, so wait, lets say hubby lands before then, up to and including jan 13th, then old system applies? and no need for all this extra poopiness?? Gosh, now even more I want him to land before then, so we dont have to deal with all this. Going to the cuban consulate in montreal is on its own a very difficult task! lol SO frustrating that its becoming MORE difficult.

By saying the PRE will be mandatory for those marrying foreigners, you mean that there will no longer be the option of the PVE? I was planning on going for PRE regardless so that doesnt bother me.... but the passport stamp sucks too. UGH, leave it to cuba to make things MORE challenging by trying to make them easier... lol
