Congratulations
Are they from Quebec ?
May I know why they asked for a financial exemption? As far as I know, proof of financial situation is only required after the AIP, right? For example, some people don’t have a work permit (and don’t work) before receiving the AIP, and once they get it, they become eligible to work.

May I also know which office issued the approval
?
I did not ask for financial exemption up-front but officer really went in depth of our situation and figured that my parents will need one. Hence, it was granted. Thanks to her million times for that!!

My father is old, on dialysis, and cannot work. My mother will seek a part time job and will care for my father in her capacity while working. But, with this situation, it will probably not be possible for them to meet the financial requirements. Hence, an exemption was granted.

Niagara falls office.

No, they are not in Quebec.

Yes, I see what you mean. I'm happy for your family !
I hope all officers are like yours

If they can’t meet financials how did they pay for dialysis since it appears they have been in Canada for over 4 years? That can be up to 60k/month. They still will struggle financially especially after they hit 65 since they have no CPP or other workplace pension.

Dialysis rates are not as high as 60k/month. It's about 50k/year for un-insured patients. For patients covered by health card, it is much lower. So, they charged us discounted rate after knowing our whole story. I still pay the monthly installments of those accumulated bills.

My dad is already older than 65 and OHIP will cover him from now on. For future, I am there for them to take care of them forever with all aspects of the life. They are my parents, and I am not relying on CPP or anything like that for them to survive on. They spent their all savings for my future in Canada and it is my turn now.

Sorry that should have said 60k/year not month. Given our healthcare crisis and the fact that many hospitals are running deficits it is slightly insane that we are offering uninsured patients who are visitors discounted rates. The cost of care doesn’t change so Canadian taxpayers end up supplementing the cost of care for visitors and also end up waiting longer for services. Given that many hospitals are now running deficits most hospitals don’t have the extra funds to be able to run payment plans or discount services which is why many are now demanding full payment and telling people to take out loans to provide payments. Happy for your family but shows one of the flaws of our healthcare system. If we had extra capacity or hospitals were doing better financially it would be different but don’t think people realize how much stress programs like supervisas and the uninsured are placing on many hospitals. The state of healthcare and institutional care for only provincial healthcare holders is scary but when you add other people it is just insane.

Hey guys,

Does anyone know timeline for Stage 2 Approval after AIP?

My timeline is as follows:
Application submitted: July 26, 2023
Application Refused: July 25, 2024
Appealed the decision in court (without lawyer): After arguments and lot of back and forth with DOJ, decision was retracted in Nov 2024 and application was sent for reconsideration.
Stage 1 AIP Received: January 14, 2025

Documents sent for Stage 2 Processing: January 15, 2025

Just received ATIP notes and it is showing everything passed except Criminality being in progress. Any suggestions how long it may take from here on?

Thanks for any responses in advance.

I got my AIP on July 23 of 2024, sent the requested documents on August 01 of 2024
I called IRCC today, nothing has change for me this year so far, still...
Medical: passed
Elegebilit: passed
Background check: in proccess

How were you able to appeal the decision in court without a lawyer?

They will probably start sending CoPRs before the end of this year. If I remember correctly, that was the case in 2020. At the time, many applications were finalized toward the end of the year, if I'm not mistaken

I submitted the motion to self-represent in court. It is allowed assuming the counsel on the other side also allow your request. DOJ approved our motion to self-represent. Obviously court has to grant the request too.

Hello everyone. I have applied for work permit extension and they sent a letter it says I may still work one more year while my application in progress. It was 3 months before. Has anyone experienced this or it is something new?

WP-Ext letters are for 1 year now. IRCC started this in May.
