Hey folks,

I think this is a first - Just got my BOWP approved without submitting the AOR.

I had not received my AOR at the time of my WP running out, so before that I had submitted the BOWP (application for extension OWP) online. I had sent an explanatory letter along with OB 485, copy of my current WP, and although I applied for a OWP, I did also attach a copy of my offer letter/contract. But in the application did not fill in Employer details.

Timeline:

CEC Application Received: April 29
BOWP Online Application submitted: May 15
Current OWP Expired: May 26
AOR received: June 13
BOWP approval email: June 19

BOWP is for 12 months - valid to June 18, 2014.

Congrats, how did you attached the OB485? Did you print it out and scan with it or just mentioned OB485 in the letter?

I did the online application, after doing that automated "interview" wizard thingy. So it tells you what documents you have to fill in and attach. It gave me an option to attach a "Letter of Explanation", so in one PDF file I put the letter, OB 485, WP and employment offer letter.

:)

I got a quick question for you regarding the offer letter.

Was the offer letter, the letter that you got when you first started working at the company? aka like 1 year ago? Or was it a new one that was recently provided by your employer.

I'm in the same boat as you so i would like to know more.

Thanks

Hey, I attached the offer letter I got for the job Im currently in - its only a term appointment, not an ongoing job.

Notice the BOWP was approved on June 19th, 6 days after you received the AOR. Eventhough you did not submit the AOR initially with your application, the officer processing your work permit could see(using your client ID) that you AOR was issued and therefore issued your BOWP.

If your AOR wasn't issued at that time, they would have rejected the BOWP application.

Correct! Talk about close call!
I requested in my explanation letter that they should check my UCI number to see me AOR. But they didn't do that, obviously just checked the UCI and found it.

This is great news, congrats! I am in the exact same situation so will be following suit and hoping for the best!

I am still so excited about this aand! :) Counting down the days to get -hopefully- the same exciting news! Now I kinda wish I had applied for the BOWP electronically.

FYI for everyone:

I was out of the country on vacation when my BOWP approval was recieved by email, then in the mail to my home address in Vancouver.

I was a bit unsure about what would happen when I came back into Canada, I just showed immigration the approval email and the officer was going to print a new BOWP for me. But the system wouldnt let him as one had already been printed and mailed to me. So he just stamped my passport and sent me through :)

FYI... Just like aand, I also received my BOWP without initially submitting my AOR!
