were both of you guys inside the 4 month prior-expiration of your current WP?

Cause my calculations indicate me that my AOR could be approved and sent 5 months before my closed WP expires. However it has been told to me that there are no more funding for my research position after August 31st, so I will need to start looking for a job asap, and we all know that my chances are way better with a BOWP than with a closed WP. CIO-Sydney received my application for PR yesterday July 4th.

Hi nandoU

Yes, I was inside the 4 months. I filed my BOWP online on May 15, and my existing work permit expired on May 26 - so only had 10 days left. It is imperative that you file for the BOWP BEFORE your current work permit expires, otherwise you will not be eligible.

You should send in an application and try get a BOWP even if its more than 4 months - I have read elsewhere in this forum that people have successfully gotten their BOWP with more than 4 months remaining on their work permit.

Yes, same for me. Mailed out the paper application for BOWP on May 14 and my work permit expired on May 24.

I did the online application, after doing that automated "interview" wizard thingy. So it tells you what documents you have to fill in and attach. It gave me an option to attach a "Letter of Explanation", so in one PDF file I put the letter, OB 485, WP and employment offer letter.

:)

I'm still a bit confused about what OB485 is? Do I print out the page the operation bulletin 485 page and attach it with my application or is it another form that I am missing?

correct.
Print out the Operation bulletin and include it with your application. (or scan it in as an attachment if you are doing it online).
Reason why people are including it in their application is because the processing officer may not be aware of the Bridging open work permit. As it is a new process as of 8 months ago, it seems to take time for the education about it to go through internal CIC.

exciting news!

Hey Citrus, could you please update your BOWP status? Have you received yours as well?

No update yet - I applied by mail to buy myself some additional time in case things don't go as planned. I'm expecting to get my decision sometime in early September.

I see. Thanks for your response though. I am planning to go through the same process within next week. Please update us when you hear from them. Crossing fingers and toes!

Congrats aand. Can you post the explanation letter that you have submitted here. I am too in the same situation.

YAY! Congrats! I have sent my BOWP application last Tuesday without AOR since my work permit was expired on Sunday. Fingers crossed for a speedy result! Good luck everyone.

This sounds like it is good news!

I have just sent off my application and should receive AOR in approx. 7 weeks (early October). My current WP expires at the end of October, so I really hope to get the BWP in time.

But what I am really worried about is if there is anything wrong with the application I sent that stops me getting AOR. Because by the time I send the new application my WP wil have expired and I won't be able to apply for the BWP.

I am worried sick about this, even though my application should be OK.

Would this approval of a BWP without AOR affect me in any way? In a good way I am hoping!

Any help is very much appreciated, I am nervous wreck over this!

Can someone help me on this?

What is Bridging Open Work Permit Actually?

I have a valid Closed WP till Dec 2014

Can i apply for this open WP by Any chance by Changing the clauses since I have my AOR in hand?
