I really doubt what your consultant said.

PLEASE CHECK THAT HAS HE GOT HIS LICENSE CANCELLED.

Also your category is wide open in my opinion.

the consultant is suposed to b a reputed one.. he claims 100% visa success rate and says mine has all the chances of getting a visa provided the overall cap was not aproaching so fast... he says the CIC website is slow in updation.. they must b hving with them 1000 or so aplications with them right now.. and by the time mine reaches.. the oveall cap wld hve reached..

Good luck to you deepblues... stay hopeful but also prepared for what rjesome said. rjesome explained in good detail what I wanted to express to you as well, and his explanation is spot on. +1 to him.

I agree with your consultant that the chances are slim, but I disagree that you should not try. You MUST try because otherwise you'll never know! You have nothing to lose.

Try and you will not regret in the future that you did not waste an opportunity.

BEST OF LUCK.

That is NOT true. Read the CIC website Operational Bulletin for Ministerial Instructions 2011. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2011/ob319.asp

"Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW): A cap of 10,000 new FSW applications, without an offer of arranged employment, will be considered for processing each year. Within the 10,000 cap, a maximum of 500 new applications per occupation will be considered each year (see OB 318 for more information)."

So much for your "reputed consultant".

There is an overall cap of 10,000 and then there is a specific NOC cap of 500. Logically it is the sum of 500 that make up the 10,000. If I were to be a prospective applicant, I would be more concerned about the NOC I am going to apply for than the overall cap. If you are in NOC 4152 for eg, you are already out of the game as far as FSW1 is concerned even though the overall cap has not been reached yet. The focus should always be on the NOC in question and not the overall cap.

Now you worry about the overall cap. As of 08/03/12 there were 8985 applications, so only 1015 spaces left. As it takes 2/3 months before a file gets to review, I would think that the 10K cap is probably full by now.

PMM is right. But obviously even taking something directly from the CIC website will not make anyone believe us. And you might want to check your math. 29 occupations X 500 CAP = 14,500

The focus is on BOTH the NOC cap and the overall cap but the overall cap takes precedence. Read the link to the Operational Bulletin. These are instructions from CIC which CLEARLY state that the NOCs are WITHIN the cap of 10,000. Sigh.

Me too.

Dear friend, I have missed the train twice and ready to make 3rd attempt in July 2012. My advice, please do not give up. You will only fail when you give up.

Be strong, there are plenty of options to go to Canada (FSW1 is just one option).

deepblues..
u shld go ahead and apply as the next nocs to fill up are 3142 – Physiotherapists, social workers, cook, contractors.
other Nocs if u go by the trend are not likely to get very many applications.. all the remaining NOCs put together will not gather many applications.... agreed u hve 2-3 months delay .. still there are fair chances.. to reach the deadline of 10,000 the remaining NOCs sould gather around 200 applications.. which is not likely possible....
this is an observation based on the trend of updation of number of applications against the remaining NOC..
now tht u hve things in order apply asap.. and give us all the good news..
