Resurrecting this thread.

Wanted to know if there are any pros and cons of getting married after PPR vs after COPR? My situation is that I might not get married in time before PPR but should definitely get married before landing.

Thanks

Bump....

I'm also having this issue. I'm getting married on December. I'm not sure whether I should include him after getting PPR or move the marriage earlier.
Spousal inland sponsorship takes about 26 months processing and it'll take 3-4 months before receiving AOR and OWP.

To those members who recently included their spouse on existing EE application or after getting PPR kindly share your experience ....

Hi,

I'm a December AOR applicant, expecting my PPR hopefully anytime between today and June.

I may be getting married soon. I expect this likely to happen after I'm issued COPR and before landing. I'm wondering if anybody have experience/ knowledge of the process of getting the wifey PPR too. How to inform CIC of the change, what's the process after that, how long does it typically take, etc?

Would be very grateful to hear your experiences/ opinions.

Also side question, is it Ok to do landing and then leave after a few days, provided we supply an address of a friend whom will courier us PRs home later on? I.e. do we need to (legally or practically) be physically present in Canada while our PR cards are being prepared?

Many thanks!
Any update on your application to add your spouse?
1.How much time did the CIC give you to submit all the additional documents?
2.Did they ask for your spouse's Sch A, employment records, POF etc?
3.After sending CSE, how many weeks before they respond and re-open your file?

Thank you and please share your inputs.
Regards.

Thanks for your response. Did you submit updated proof of funds as well ? Also, how long before CIC response to your CSE email and did you get a new AOR for your spouse?
I appreciate your help.

They never requested for an updated proof of fund but i provided it to be safe.... since CSE takes too long i email ottawa and got a response in 24 hrs with details of what to provide.... didn't get AOR for spouse but got a ghost email within 24hrs after submitting requested documents

if your process is on going and you already submitted your application then your points won't be affected if you get married after and your spouse won't need to take the IELTS either ....

Thanks for your reply. Why the 7 days? That's a little tight for getting all the documents right?

Hey Nitz_Au, now that you've received PPR, would you be getting married ASAP? ( Since there is a 30 day window to submit the passport.)

Yes, the wedding date has been moved at the earlier date. Just in time to get the marriage certificate. I'll notify CPC-Ottawa right after the ceremony which will take place in less than a month.

Married about 3 weeks ago.
Notified CIC in 3 days via CIC and an email to the visa office which processed my COPR.
About a week after they acknowledged my enquiry and said that I should hear back from the responsible office if they require further info.
Haven't heard back yet since 12 days now.
COPR expiring in a week so a bit anxious!

Will keep ya posted. ;)

@Ufa6174 : So you actually sent you sent your passport to the VO and received your COPR before getting married?
