Hello,
I was reading all the posts regarding getting back the seized passport and was very helpful.

Today, we went me and my husband to CBSA office to get our seized passports back for our family, when we arrived to reception we gave them our PR Cards, they checked in the system and they told us that they have only my husband's file however me and my 2 boys are with IRCC which is in Etobicoke office :(. It's a weird situation because all the family should be together in one place.
So the receptionist told us that one officer will contact us back once they prepare my husband's document and we can go somewhere to have coffee until everything is ready. After half an hour the document was ready and we went and got it.

After that, we went to Etobicoke office in 5343 Dundas street , they were open but not accepting walk in and they asked us to send a letter by mail to their address with the list of the requested Original Identity documents and the reason of your request, including an explanation that you became a permanent resident without your documents and they will reply back to me with an appointment in order to get them back.

It's really a big headache and I don't know why since i am there already and they are open why they couldn't give it to me and do the same easy process like CBSA Office.
I feel that they are complicating things and they don't want to make things easy for people :(
I mailed them out in May 2021 with this information.
I haven't heard from them back yet.

today I went to IRCC Etobicoke to submit my request by hand but the security didn't accept and was so rude and she said I have to send it by Canada post and the envelope has to be stamped.
it is a big headache and hope that it's not gonna take too long the reply back to me. :(

Hello there I sent an email to etobicoke office to find out about my husband’s passport. They haven’t replied back. Does anyone know how long do they take to answer an email ? If there is any other way to find where is his passport ? Thank you
you have to send letter by mail and not email. this what they told us to do.
here is the address of where you should send your letter:

IRCC ETOBICOKE
5343 DUNDAS STREET WEST, SUITE 105
ETOBICOKE, ON
M9B 6K5

Guys I have a question.. So I have another valid national travel passport (it is with my parents in home country). I declared this passport when I applied for refugee protection and for PR, but it wasn't seized because I didn't bring it to Canada (I arrived with another passport that has a Canadian visa) and I explained that in IRCC. I even provided a copy of that passport, so I didn't hide any information about this document. And my seized passport contains a note that I have another identity. So IRCC is fully aware of that identity
Any ideas what if my patents will send this passport to Canada can I use it to travel now? PS This document was obtained several years before I even got to Canada.

That's a tricky question @mimika and I guess nobody here would be able to answer it. It is very strange you had TWO valid passports ( I assume from same country? ). As far as we all know, you need to lose/ expired/ damaged any passport in the world to get another one. In case one claims its lost ( while its not), I assume that country cancels the old passport automatically. Is that your scenario? If yes, that's very tricky.

Regarding IRCC, since you reported this passport, gave them a copy, and in case in the future they ask you why you used it instead of a travel a document and you are able to give a logical explanation ( I assume you traveling to a country that doesn't accept Travel Documents ), I think it's all good. The tricky part is not IRCC, the tricky part is actually using this passport around the world airports without any guarantees that there will be no issues regarding it's validity, especially that if you get in trouble, you can't claim Canadian help as you're not using their document, and you will have to use your country's consular services.

If your other passport is from another nationality ( well I am not sure what is the process regarding dual citizenship refugee claimants ), logic says ( not me ) that you're good to go.

By the way, I went to CBSA, Etobicoke, sent emails, send letter via mail, send EMAIL again and then replied to me the same reply you got: We will open soon and you're on a priority list. Nonsense of course.

IRCC has put us all in a hard position. Not sure why they are not giving passports if CBSA are giving passports and the whole country is opened. I HATE THEM!!!!

Yes in my country we can have two valid passports (I think we can even have more than that)and can easily travel, it’s recognized worldwide
I just need that passport to travel to uae once and I’m gonna burn this passport after I have no issues traveling with rtd :/
I’ll go to cbsa tomorrow with copy of that id and will ask.. it doesn’t hurt to ask since they will examine me at the port of entry, initial issues may arise from there ..

Yea they re absolutely sick. If you are a lawful owner of the id- that’s your property. And ircc allows to use it AT YOUR OWN RISK if the trip is essential. I know so many people that used their passports after getting a pr and they didn’t have issues when applied for citizenship. So anyways, good luck . I hope we’re be able to get our passports from Etobicoke
