Thank you. Have a nice flight home

Hello, do you have any updates? How it was? Hope you arrived safely home ☺️

Thank you so much, sorry I came back here after long time, lol
Yeah, my flight was on time, I met an officer at the YYZ airport, he gave me my passport and I went to board my flight smoothly.
I am home and much happy than I was in Canada :)

Are you also planning to withdraw your case or you are just here on this forum :) Wish you all the best

Hi,
I have a similar question if anybody could help we are struggling with this one so much.
My husband's applied for refugee which got refused 2 years back and his passport has also expired in 2022, but his passport is with IRCC as he once applied for refugee which is refused.
We then got married and he applied for spousal sponsorship which got approved and we have received his COPR.
We now have to travel outside Canada. We are not sure what to apply. If we need to renew his Indian passport by getting the old passport back from IRCC. if yes how do we get the old passport back.
Or we need to apply for certificate of identity or RTD.
We are so confused we have received the COPR but not the PR card yet.

Contact the same place where he applied for his refugee. Call them and they will not give you the straight forward answer. But do not give up. Get the contact number for the place where his passport is at present. In our case it was at Calgary. I applied in Montreal but the passport was sent to Calgary so, I kept calling Calgary and Montreal until I get my passport. Good luck it is going to take time, Just be patient. I even went to the border to talk to border security but no one would have the answer. So, have patience and keep calling until you find where the passport is.

If he knows the CBSA where his Passport is held. Both of you or him , just go there and show them the COPR. Tell them that he'll like to pick up his passport. That's it.
They'll just make him sign that he picked it up. That's all.

Getting my passport back soon:

January 25th I requested my passport back from IRCC etobicoke because they are the ones who took it when I claimed asylum. I emailed them (CIC-Etobicoke-Immigration@cic.gc.ca) a letter and sent the same letter one week later by canada post (tracked).
In the letter I wrote my UCI, passport details, DOB, Name etc. and I attached my notice of seizure, copy of my passport that I am requesting and my eCoPR.

February 20th I followed up with another email and a Webform.

March 5th 2024 I got an email from IRCC etobicoke with an appointment letter to come pick up the passport (appointment date is March 21st 2024)

Hope this helps. also there are others who have detailed the process to get your passport back from CBSA in this thread.
Thanks for the great advise and the clear guideline it will help us a lot with the time comes.

I have question

Can foreign nationals outside Canada can request their own GCMS notes directly under the Privacy Act without needing a representative?
