how are you planning on using the credit in your CC? non-utilization wont grow your credit. plus, the banks wont issue you an unsecured CC if you’re not earning income here. you could get a secured CC by depositing collateral, but then you’ll run into the non-utilization problem too.
and you’ll need proof of address most times too. that can be a rental agreement, or official mail mailed to your reported address.
It depends on the agent though. The ones I went to just ask for the address, they didn’t require proof, so he could just give his friend’s address, but yes, they only issued an unsecured CC with a job offer.
Bro, if you can manage, get a layover in some place in Europe and enter your destination directly. Or book a flight with 4-5 hour layover as you are entering in peak rush time of the year as students are entering Canada right now. This rush will die by September.I have a question I have a layover at Vancouver and my final destination is Calgary, do I have to complete my immigration in Calgary/Vancouver?
If I am living in Calgary and working can I give my permanent address (friend's address) in Ontario to collect my pr card?
that sounds a bit risky though. you’re gonna expose yourself to so much risk for a little bit of credit score bump. it isnt that hard to grow credit score honestly. no one has to resort to this to grow credit. I’ve been here less than a year and already have a score at 690 as of march. just need to be savvy, pay bills on time, use the card for everything, and you’re golden
Are you flying from India or US? 2 hr layover is optimistic and you can’t afford any delays from your first leg or customs landing. If you fly from India, missing the second leg and having to book another flight can be stressful since you would be sleep-depriven. I suggest either longer layover (if arriving in the morning) or booking a hotel near YVR to recharge (if arriving in the afternoon i.e. might not get to Calgary that day if missing 2nd leg flight).I never had to get a connection flight in US so never knew this ,let us if I miss the flight will catch the next flight
maybe you can sign up a basic prepaid mobile plan and set up a pre authorized payment from your secured CC. i heard of mobile plans going for $10 here. just try and avoid letting someone else use your card. it sounds a little too dangerous to do thatThe point is to have a credit score by the time I land for real and start my life over there. No need to struggle or let anyone take advantage of you if you don't have credit history.
My goal is to rent an apartment and lease/buy a car when I return for real. Without a credit score, landlords take advantage of you and ask you to pay months of rent in advance which is illegal and risky of course.

TextMe worked for me (sort of — I can call and get automated response but never got to an agent). It’s not free though, I paid $5 for a CA number for one month.Hey guys..looking for an app recommendation to call IRCC. Kindly help.
Textnow is acting up, can't seem to get a number.
They have a statutory timeline of 30 days, which they have missed before. Recently though most cases I've seen take ~4-5 weeks. How many days does gcms request take, if the request is made directly through cic website by a friend already in canada?
I applied in first week of april.... no, response after the request acceptance email with a temporary tracking number. They have a statutory timeline of 30 days, which they have missed before. Recently though most cases I've seen take ~4-5 weeks.
That’s really nice. Thanks for sharing!Hi @PRANIT01
There wont be any problem, see my parents situation below.
Which airways are you travelling from? Are the airways same like from India to Vancouver to Calgary?
Recently my parents travelled from Delhi to Vancouver to Edmonton and they traveled via Air India from India and air canada for canada and they too had just 2 hours layover from Vancouver to Edmonton.
F
They were issued 2 boarding passes 1) delhi to Vancouver and 2) Vancouver to Edmonton.
Also, they got their luggage directly at Edmonton and not Vancouver.
And just in case if things mess up at Vancouver airport and you miss the flight the airlines arranges next flight ticket for your for free.
Hope this helps.
