How were you able to get in touch with a CIC agent? Do you mind sharing the number. The only number i am aware of is 1-888-242‑2100 and i've not been successful in getting hold of a live person.

From where are you calling? above number does not work for USA.
1-888-242-2100 is for people calling inside Canada.
if you want to call from USA, use this number: 1-613-944-4000

though I am not sure weather they will provide required information or not.

I called the same number, choose the option of finding status of application, then you choose #3. It will then ask for some personal information and ask you to wait for an agent.

Money is non refundable, since my application is open and initial checks are done to accept the file.

It was there in my post. They have said that, since i have completed Phase 1 process, money will not be refunded.

phase 1 means PER.

Hello Jhutti ... Can u please tell more about " Travel Document" that u applied when u were at India ... Coz I'm in almost same situation and I will need it for sure in coming future as my dad got an attack and he was hospitalized in emergency. I'm still waiting for my passport to be back from CPC-O. The day I get my passport I am heading to India.

Seniors please suggest if I can notify CPC - O About my situation so that they can send me my passport back earlier ..?

I hope your father get well soon. You situation is not same unless u plan to change ur status to married from unmarried before landing. Just visit and help ur father. Later come back to do landing. You will have ample single entry visa time. Best regards

CPC-O received my passport on 2nd feb and I need to travel to Mexico next week.

I really don't get it how they can hold someone's passports like this for so long.

So, they are checking our Schedule 3 now. That's why they sometimes ask for further information, as they did with our friend Diplomatru.

My report was requested on Jan 3rd and generated on Jan 5th.

What do you want to know exactly from the report? It is 51 pages long

Completed my landing today. First did vehicle export at US customs. If I had all documents handy it would have been over in 5 minutes. But it took about 10-15 minutes for me, because I had to go back and forth to my car to get additional documents. Officers on the US side were very condescending.
On the other hand officers on the Canada side were very pleasant and helpful. The landing process, vehicle import and form B4 took a lot of time only because they had to do a lot of data entry, but it was very smooth. They did not ask a single question. They did not even ask me for proof of funds. They simply took my passports and CoPR and started processing it. Then I completed form 1 and went back to complete the vehicle import and also submit form B4.
I am now a happy and free Canadian permanent resident.
