http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/india-inde/visas/fees-frais.aspx

Text of interest pasted below:

Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF)

Applicants for permanent residence can pay the Right of Permanent Residence Fee ($490) at the time they submit their application or at a later date when requested. The processing fee is still required when submitting an application.

The following applicants are not required to pay the RPRF:

dependent children of a principal applicant or sponsor, a child to be adopted, or an orphaned brother, sister, niece, nephew or grandchild;
protected persons, including Convention refugees.

Payment of Fees

Fees are payable in Canadian dollars or Indian Rupees. Only bank drafts (demand drafts) or certified cheques are accepted; cash is not accepted for fee payment. The bank draft should be made for the exact amount and in favour of "Canadian High Commission" or "Receiver General for Canada" payable at New Delhi.

My recommendation.. Pay it in INR. That way it will be easier for you to track if the DD has been encashed or not.

Hi admins,
Just a input for global sheet....., if we can have two more column inserted "PP submission date" & "Days between PPS & Visa" with this we will actually be able to calculate lead time taken by NDVO for issuing Visa after submission of PPs.
Till now we are only able to calculate lead time between PPR & Visa..... whereas actual requirement is PPS(PP submission) & Visa to have better picture.

@ Vancouver14,

For INR equivalent of CAD 490, you must follow whats on the CHC-India's official webpage (pointed earlier by Sinestra). Don't use any other conversion factor.

Common mistake..
Rs. 28,900/- per person drawn on "Canadian High Commission" payable at New Delhi.
So if it is a family of 3 including Wife, you and child who is 19. The DD amount will be 28900*2= 57800

I believe that you should not update regarding job change by yourself. This will not create any positive impact. You should update only if visa officer require new Schedule A form as there you would need to describe your activities history in question No. 8.

You will not be questioned by VO that why you didn't update about job change as there is no clear mandatory instructions to do so. They go by book only. Additional experience gained is not counted in the points earned too.

Cheers,

Thank you for your reply!

I was more worried about negative impact, think it mentions in PER you should update when change of circumstances like job, etc... But I'll hold still for now, potential job change will be in 6-7 weeks time, but I'm secretly hoping to receive MR by then :)

Hi Sinestra,

Currencies keep fluctuating. Should we take into account the conversion rate on which the DD is made and make the DD accordingly in INR? Afterwards if the value of INR increases or decreases, its not our headache. Isn't It?

@ GMP_13

On http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/india-inde/visas/fees-frais.aspx, there is no mention of what conversion rate one should consider if paying in INR. Although, it does say that RPRF is CAD 490 or INR 28900. The webpage was last modified on 6-Dec-13.

I suppose, for INR equivalent of CAD 490, you have to follow what is mentioned on the CHC-India's official webpage on the date when you are getting the DD.
