I am just back from VFS where I collected passports for me n family along with COPR document. My wife received her IELTS result back, however mine was missing and I didn't care.

Thanks for your response, right now i dont have new passport I cant wait for it as i may not be within the cap. Shall i mention in my app with my current date of birth place and include DOB certificate with cover letter explaining that Date of birth place mentioned in the passport is wrong and I have applied for the same ???

Actually you wasted your time by renewing your old passport with a new one as just because your place of birth is different in birth certificate and passport...
DoB and parents name are more important, place of birth change in birth certificate and passport doesn't matter... But you should take care to add the same place of birth mentioned in the passport in the forms...

Now you should submit both old and new passports to embassy... Better to add a covering letter else they might confuse why you changed your passport without reaching the expiry date, if suppose they won't notice the place of birth change in both...

But you already applied for a new passport right? If government of India already issue you new passport I don't know you can send the old one along along with ur application... Make sure of it first.....

But in usual situations if place of birth is only different it will work even without a covering letter.... However its upto you to add covering letter or not...You should mention in your application place of birth same as in your passport even if it is wrong... All details in the forms should be same as in the passport....
