In my case FP was sent by regular mail. ECAS only said IRCC has sent us "correspondence" on **** date and that correspondence will have more details.

My test invitation after that was via email only. Ecas showed test invitation a day after the email.

If you opted to receive correspondence from IRCC via email when you applied for grant of citizenship, then you will most likely receive FP request via email. That's what happened in my case. The email will have attachment for the FP letter.
