Correctly

My spouse has not landed..

But judging from what others say about their PR card arrival time, it's usually 6-12 weeks. Toward the longer end (12 weeks) if there was a lot of holidays in there... In your case, Christmas, New Years, etc are all holidays where they were likely less or no staff working on that stuff.. so you might be looking at another couple of weeks.

It should be there soon though. I hope that helps. No one can tell you when it will come but that seems to be average.

My husband was told 6-12 weeks due to all the mail that happens in Dec-Feb.

Don't need a PR card for that. All you need is a SIN# (some employers ask to see the SIN card).

CPC-S will continue to mail the PR Cards to the Canadian address provided by the new PR upon arrival, according to the process currently in place. However, where there are clear indications that the initial entry into Canada was only of short duration and the client provided a third party address for the purpose of forwarding their initial PR Card outside of Canada, these cases should be flagged with a Non-Computer Based Entry (NCB) 22 indicating that the client is outside Canada, and if relevant, the fact that the photo retake was done outside Canada and submitted to produce the first PR Card along with the date this information is recorded.

There are so many landed immigrants who leave Canada immediately after landing. It seems that CIC has formulated a policy to tackle this by several means for example: Delaying the mailing of PR Cards or ask for new photographs, which must be taken in Canada. So that person has to remain in Canada after Landing and not leave...

Boo:( lol I just want to work already

You just need a SIN # for that. If they ask for an ID, your passport works.

Yeah, get in and get your SIN card. You are given the # right away and can use that to work. My hubby got a job before he even got his actual physical SIN card.

That is not correct. Read below:

Permanent residents

You must provide one of the following primary documents:

Permanent Resident Card issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. This is the only acceptable document if your claim was processed in Canada.

Confirmation of Permanent Residence AND visa counterfoil affixed to a foreign passport or a travel document

Confirmation of Permanent Residence AND foreign passport for visa exempt countries

Record of Landing issued before June 28, 2002.

Verification of landing. This document is provided when an original of the Record of Landing or the Confirmation of Permanent Residence is not available (i.e. lost, misplaced, etc.).

Status Verification, also known as "Verification of Status", is considered an acceptable document to support the client's status in Canada when applying for a replacement SIN card or updating the SIN record.
