Flagpoling question

My wife got passport request today and we are preparing to send her passport for stamping to Ottawa. She is an Indian citizen with F1 visa status type for USA but she we think she is considered out of status because of expired I-20. So, after she gets back her stamped passport can she still do flag poling by crossing border to USA and coming back via Niagara Falls (Rainbow bridge)?

F1 visa expires in December 2019 and I-20 expired in April 2018

I would strongly recommend you post to a US immigration forum to clarify your wife's status there.

Normally flagpoling is the way to go and isn't in any way an issue. However if there's any sort of US overstay in your wife's history, I would personally avoid flagpoling and either book a landing appointment with an office within Canada or land the next time she flies into Canada from a international location.

Thank you! She has not overstayed or broken any immigration rules. She is in Canada with me on visitor Visa even before her i20 expired. It's just that we are worried if there will be any rejection stamping on her passport because she tried for flag pole with an expired i20 but valid F1 visa? Can you please provide me USA immigration forum so I can confirm there as well?

Ah - OK. That's good news.

You'll need to google to find a US immigration forum. The one I used to refer people to no longer exists.
