Hi,

Non-US citizen here. I have some errands in NY and plan to fly to Toronto to activate my PR.

Per Air Canada's requirements:
https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/plan/travel-requirements/travel-documents.html

  • Canadian permanent residents/landed immigrants returning to Canada from the United States must carry a valid passport and a valid Canadian Permanent Resident Card (PR Card).
Since I'm landing for the first time and not a landed immigrant returning, I should have no problem getting on an Air Canada plane from the US without a PR Card, is that right?!

Thanks. I booked tickets before coming across this requirement page so I'm worried.

When you got your landing document and passport back from the embassy it should have a 6 month valid entry visa as well? That's the visa that air Canada would be checking .
You would become a PR once you land .
