Hi Friends,

I finished giving my citizenship test but microphone was off because my laptop has issues. I read somewhere that officer uses AI protor app to detect unsual images and voice?
In this case, they do require microphone for voice? Please help whether my test results will be invalid?

They dont record hence microphone is irrelevant.
As long as your face was in the whole duration of test, you should be good.

Not recording is very different than not requiring audio. Wouldn’t Audio be required to make sure nobody is telling you the answer? I would think that the representative would randomly look in on people taking the test to make sure nothing suspicious is going on. Would be interested to know because with a set of binoculars someone could see the questions and tell you the answers.

Well, as per the IRCC website, they don't record any audio during the test. There isn't live proctoring either so the only logical conclusion is they aren't using any audio from when we take the test. There isn't video recording either.

They simply take photos at random times during the test and the test validation is done based on that.

How the system will monitor you
Our system will use your webcam to take your photo at random times during the test. It will not record any audio or video.

We do this to

  • make sure you complete the test by yourself
  • confirm your identity
  • monitor any unusual activities
To confirm your identity, we’ll compare the

  • photo you took of yourself
  • photos we randomly took while you completed the test
  • photos you submitted in your citizenship application
