Hey there. I hope you are having a wonderful holiday. I'm an international applicant form Iran. I've got several admission letters and now it's time to start my student visa and study permit process. I have cousins( my paternal uncle's sons whom I carry the same last name with) who are permanent residents of Canada and work there. Can I present them as my financial supporters? To my logic, they should be more trustable than my parents who work and live in Iran ( form the Canadian government viewpoint)
Thank you in advance!

Yes, your cousins in Canada can be your financial sponsor. But, they have to demonstrate that they have the means and the reason for their sponsorship. For example, they may need to proof or explain previous sponsorship or why now. You can have both your cousin and parents as sponsors. Technically, your parents financial sponsorship is more convincing and reasonable. It will also show your ties to your home country. Cousins (extended family/relation) in some immigration rules does not carry equal weight like a brother/sister or uncle/aunt.
