We applied spousal sponsorship. My wife lives in Canada, and I am in Ankara, Turkey now. I would like to share our steps with you;
- We received your application for PR on May 15,2018
- We started processing your application on June 20, 2018 ( for the sponsor)
- We sent you correspondence acknowledgement receipt on June 21, 2018 ( for the sponsor)
- We sent Ali’s medical instructions on June 27,2018
- We sent you correspondence on June 28, 2018 about the decision on your application ( for the sponsor)
- the Application for Permanent Residence for your relative(s) has been forwarded to the visa office in Ankara for further processing on July 5, 2018.
- Medical results have been received.
- We started processing Ali’s application on July 11, 2018. We haven't heard anything after the last step. What is the next step for application? What is the meaning of ” We started processing Ali’s application on July 11, 2018.”? Have background check started yet? We missed each other a lot, and don't want to be apart anymore. Is there anybody in same situation with us now? Could you share yours, please? Thank you. I'm looking forward to hearing good news from you

COPR has an expiry date, it's either 1 year from the date of doing your medical exam, or when your passport expires - whatever date comes first.

It is early to worry, they restarted processing my application may 2nd till now I have no update. Three Months! No update on Background check, eligibility. But I have seen some from Ankara who got their COPR in 5 Months, everyone is different, I should not discourage you.
It is so stressful. I am trying to be very patient

Yes, it is still pretty early to worry. You’re still on your second and a half month since the application was received. The processing time is within 12 months, you have to keep that in mind. Ours were submitted February and I’m still waiting for my background check to finish. Your progress, to be honest, is more consistent and quicker than ours.

Anyway from what I understand, “we started processing Ali’s application” is that they indeed has started processing the permanent residency application. They’re probably checking the eligibility. Then police clearance and schedule A. Idk how long it takes and I don’t want to say anything specific as everyone has different people working on each application.

The moment you get your AOR. The one that says “link your application” and where you can find your application number and UCI. You can also try calling CIC regarding this because they helped me step by step on linking our application online, which we successfully did! Thanks to the agents!

DM for the principal applicant or the sponsor? For the sponsor, often just a couple of weeks. For the principal applicant, it depends massively on nationality, complexity of case and visa office. Talking a rough window of 2-10 months depending on all these factors. Those at the faster end of the scale are rare.
